Christmas Cookies – Part 4 of 5

If I were to name one cookie a classic, I would say sugar cutout cookies were a classic Christmas cookie. I can remember making these with my mom many years as a kid.   What is better than cutting out, decorating, and then eating cookies??  This is one of our favorites, and will definitely be made every year.

Sift together and put aside:
2 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla with a mixer or spoon, blending until smooth. Beat in flour mixture until smooth. Chill one hour or until firm. Roll a small amount of dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness. Use floured board. (Keep remaining dough in refrigerator until ready to use).

Cut dough in desired shapes with floured cookie cutters. Put on greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated over (375 degrees F) for 8-10 minutes or until pale brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. Decorate. Enjoy 🙂
